Enrolments

Wilston Kids Care is licensed for 200 places (190 permanent and 10 Casual emergency/on the day vacancies) for Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care.

All new families wanting to utilise the service are required to complete an Enrolment Form, Direct Debit Form and Priority of Access Form as well as providing any medical/court order information to the Wilston Kids Care Office prior to commencement.

Existing families do not need to complete a new Enrolment Form each year but will be required to complete a 'Rollover Enrolment Form' annually to retain their placements for the following year. Please see '2018 Rollover Information' at the top of the page for next years re-enrolment process.

All forms are available from this site (refer forms page) or a copy can be obtained from the office.

Prep Children

Children enrolled in Prep classes will be taken or collected from their classroom by a staff member for Terms 1 and 2. Preps will begin the transition to walking themselves to and from Wilston Kid Care, with support from the Educators, in term 3 and 4. Please refer to our 'Family Handbook' on the 'Important Parent Information' page for further information.

Booking & Priority of Access Guidelines

Booking Policy:

Existing families will be given preference over new families. Should existing families require additional days for the next year they will need to request them on their enrolment form. If there are no places for the day/s required, children will be placed on a waiting list and the Parent/Guardian advised.

Parents/Guardian will be required to pay for any permanent place, regardless of their child attendance at the session. In the case of a child being absent for one week or more due to illness, payment of fees will be waived on receipt of a Doctor's certificate. The WKC Committee have allocated a number of places for hardship or for permanent irregular attendance requirements – to discuss your particular circumstances in the first instance please contact the WKC Chair.

Casual bookings will only be accepted if there are places available on the day.

Priority of Access Guidelines:

The Australian Government have set out three levels of priority which we are obliged to follow. These are:

  1. A child are risk of serious abuse or neglect

  2. A child of a single parent who satisfies, or of parents who both satisfy, the work/training/study test under section 14 of the Family Assistance Act.

  3. Any other child. The more detailed order of priority for enrolment for Wilston Kids Care is as follows:

General Enrolment

  1. Children at risk of abuse or neglect are a priority group for access according to Section 6.3 Childcare Services Handbook 2013-2014.

  2. A child of a single parent who satisfies, or of parents who both satisfy, the work/training/study test under section 14 of the Family Assistance Act.

  3. Continuing Wilston State School pupils already enrolled in Wilston Kids Care, for whom there are no problems with outstanding fees. (Re-enrolments and applications for siblings will not be processed until requests for fee payments have been met.)

  4. Newly enrolled Wilston State School pupils who are siblings of the above.

  5. Pupils on the waiting list who do not fit into priority 1-4 will be given access to the service in the following priority (as outlined in section 6.3 Childcare Services Handbook 2013-2014)

  • Children in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families

  • Children in families which include a disabled person

  • Children in families on lower incomes (ie CCB %100)

  • Children in families with a non-English speaking background

  • Children in socially isolated families

  • Children of single parents

Otherwise, access will be given to those on the waiting list with the earliest inquiry date.

Casual enrolments

  1. Cases of special hardship will be given urgent priority for casual or short-term care.

  2. Applications for continuing enrolment based on special hardship will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and will be accommodated outside the above priorities if necessary.

Waiting List

If all places have been filled, then children are to be placed on a waiting list. When a place becomes available, the next child whose enrolment date is closest will be offered the place.

What does this mean for me? The above prioritisation of access will come into effect for the 2018 enrolments and as such there will be the following impact;

  1. We will be unable to guarantee any places for new 2017 enrolments for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at this point in time and strongly suggest arranging alternate care as a backup where possible.

  2. Existing families who have not completed their enrolment by November 30th or who have outstanding fees may be requested to vacate their place to accommodate new enrolments as per the above priority.

There are still investigations into alternate options for families to utilise other local OSHC centres in the local community for those who are unable to secure a place for term 1 2017.

Dear Families

Re: 2018 Rollover of enrolments

As of 1st September, we will start re-enrolling our 2017 children for the year 2018.

For this purpose, Parents will need to fill in a “rollover form” for each child currently registered in the Centre.

Rollover forms will be made available on 1st September at the service by the sign in table or on our website: http://www.wilstonpandc.org.au/index.php/wilston-kids-care/forms

To secure your child/ren’s place for 2018, all rollover forms must be returned by 31st October. If forms are not retuned by this date, their placement will be reallocated and they will be added to the 2018 wait list.

All families will be advised of their children’s 2018 place by 30 November 2017.

Parents of children that have never been registered in the centre will still be required to complete a full enrolment form for the child.

Thank you
