Questions we frequently get asked at club nights

What time does my child have to swim before they can swim the longer events?


50m Freestyle                   23 seconds
50m Backstroke                26 seconds
50m Breaststroke             28 seconds
50m Butterfly                    25 seconds
100m freestyle, they must have qualified to swim 50m freestyle
100m & 200m medley, they must qualify for 50m in any three strokes
200m & 400m Freestyle, they must be able to swim 50m Freestyle in 45 seconds
100m Breaststroke, they must be able to swim 50m Breaststroke in 52 seconds
100m Backstroke, they must be able to swim 50m Backstroke in 50 seconds
100m Butterfly, they must be able to swim 50m Butterfly in 50 seconds

What is the difference between an A grade and B grade carnival?


A Grade Carnivals – For each event / stroke the two swimmers in each age group who have recorded the fastest time in that stroke will be selected.
B Grade Carnivals – For each event / stroke the two swimmers in each age group who have recorded the fastest times are ineligible to swim.  The next two fastest swimmers will be selected.

What event/race/distance is my child in?


If you nominated on time: An events program will be emailed to all families and programs will be displayed around the pool deck on club nights. 

What is the difference between Short Course and Long Course?


Short course events: pool is 25m long
Long course events: pool is 50m long

When do I need to nominate by?


All race nominations close Wednesday 6pm sharp. No nomination can mean No Swim. Nominations are submitted the App Swim Club Connect. 

How many nights do I need to come to to qualify for Club Championships?


If you want to swim in Club Championships, or be eligible for the Most Improved trophy, you need to have swum a minimum of 50% of club nights during the season. If you are new to the Club, a minimum of 50% from the first club night attended is required.

What are BSA & SQ Meets?


Please visit http://www.qld.swimming.org.au/ and follow links to SQ State-wide Calendar  to see all Qld carnivals. THESE CARNIVALS ARE OPEN TO ALL COMPETITIVE COMPETITORS AT THE CLUB (although some events do require qualifying times).
