Code of Conduct (Parents/Guardians)
Our goal is always to work in partnership with all our precious families to deal with any matters that arise in Vacation Care and act as promptly as we can. However, we deserve to be treated with respect and dignity as we are dealing with many children each day whilst running the Service. When we need to speak with families, we need you to work in partnership with us. Raising voices and threatening staff will not be tolerated and is not the way to manage any concerns or grievances you may have.
The Code of Conduct (Parent and Guardian) Policy establishes a standard of conduct and behaviour to be followed by the parents, visitors and volunteers at the Service and defines how individuals must behave towards each other, towards the children at the Service, and the staff and management, at Wilston Kids Care.
To review this policy please visit the Service Parent Hub or contact a member of our Administration Team for assistance.
Children’s Belongings
All items your child brings to Vacation Care must be named. They are also the responsibility of the child, just like at School. Educators will remind children to put hats, jumpers, etc away in their bags when not using them. However, it is not the Educator’s responsibility to look after children’s belongings. This is something that they manage independently as primary school children.
If you need to check up on your child, please don't hesitate to call the WKC office on 07 3352 6753 or
0401 059 192.

To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend booking as early as possible.
External Students Enquiring about Enrolment at Wilston Kids Care - Vacation Care only
Priority of access for Vacation Care (school holidays) is given to children who attend Wilston State School, reflecting our role as a P&C-operated service located within the school community and our established relationships with the children, families and school.
Where places remain available, enquiries from children who attend other schools may also be considered on an individual basis. This consideration is based on the availability of places and our capacity at the relevant time to safely and appropriately support the individual child within our existing program. This includes considering the staffing available for that Vacation Care period, the facilities and resources available at our service, the nature and level of support required. WKC is a community-based OSHC service providing group-based care and is not a specialist or individualised care provider.
Accordingly, enrolment decisions for children who are not enrolled at Wilston State School are considered on an individual basis, taking into account each child’s circumstances, support requirements and our capacity to safely and appropriately provide the necessary care. Wilston State School students and their existing enrolment and care needs remain our highest priority when planning and facilitating vacation care.
Welcoming Our New Prep Students – Attendance at Vacation Care from the first week of January
Wilston Kids Care welcomes children who will be commencing Prep at Wilston State School in that school year in the January of the same year. We encourage families to consider enrolling their new Prep child in our January Vacation Care program, as it provides a wonderful opportunity for children to become familiar with their new surroundings before the school year officially begins.
Attending Vacation Care at WKC allows children to gradually build confidence in their new environment, become familiar with the school campus and begin forming friendships with other children who will be starting Prep alongside them. It can be a valuable opportunity for children to explore their new school community in a relaxed and play-based environment before the excitement and busyness of the first day of school.
During the January Vacation Care period, new Prep children often become familiar with important parts of their new environment, including where the toilets are, the names and locations of school buildings, the playgrounds and spaces they can access, and where they will attend during the school year. Most importantly, they have the opportunity to meet and play with other children from their future Prep cohort, helping them to develop a sense of belonging before formal schooling begins.
For many children, having already spent time at Wilston Kids Care and becoming familiar with the school environment can help make the transition into Prep feel more comfortable and less overwhelming. It is a great way to build confidence, independence and friendships while becoming part of the Wilston State School community before the first day of school
