Important Information about Term 2 for Wilston Kids Care

Dear Families, As you most likely have heard, an announcement was made by the Qld Government on 13 April 2020 regarding arrangements for the start of the upcoming Term 2.

From 20 April 2020, Queensland students will be moving to a home-based learning model for the first five weeks of Term 2. During this time all students who are able to learn from home should do so. We understand that a decision with respect to the balance of Term 2 will be made in mid-May.

How will this affect my child?

From the start of Term 2 until 22 May 2020, all students will be learning from home, except for students in the following categories:

  • Children of essential workers on days when they are not able to be supervised at home and no other arrangements can be made. Essential worker means any worker who must continue to attend their workplace for essential business during this time.

  • Vulnerable children include children identified by schools or who:

  • are currently receiving services from Child Safety, including children who are subject to a child protection order

  • are subject to a youth justice order

  • Children in designated Indigenous communities

  • Children in designated Indigenous communities

What about Outside School Hours Care (OSHC)?

OSHC services will continue to operate before and after school care where there is demand for services and particularly for vulnerable or children of essential workers.

As a result, Wilston Kids Care will be open and operational for Before and After School Care for those families that meet the above criteria and their children are eligible to attend school. We will "hibernate" all permanent Before and After School Care bookings in our QikKids system to use when everything goes back to normal. These bookings can be brought out and utilised exactly as they are when a decision is made by the State Government for everyone to go back to school.

Please do not touch anything with regards to these bookings as we will be working behind the scenes this week to "hibernate them’ in our system.

In the meantime, if you meet the criteria set out above and want to book casually for Before and After School Care for the first 5 weeks of Term 2 2020, please do the following:

  • In order for us to properly plan, if you require care, you will need to book via the My Family Lounge App by clicking on the Covid-19 Before School Care roll and/or Covid-19 After School Care roll (not the normal Before and After School Care rolls as these will be closed) depending on your needs. We have opened the My Family Lounge app for the first five weeks of Before and After School Care so you can make a booking over this entire 5-week period for your child if needed.

  • Please remember for any of these bookings you make we are now able to waive out of pocket fees for families as our service remains open. This means you won’t pay anything for your child’s attendance.

  • If you book during this time and don’t attend it will be regarded under the Government system as an absence and be marked as such on our QikKids system. You will not be charged for this day however this absence will go towards your 62 allowable absences for your child per financial year.

Any questions about Before and After School Care for Term 2 2020 please don’t hesitate to contact our Administrators Dani and Michaela for any assistance.

Kind regards,
