Important Information - Preps and Grade 1 Returning to School and Wilston Kids Care

Dear Families,

As you may have heard, the Qld Government has announced that from Monday 11 May 2020, Kindy, Prep, Year 1, Year 11 and 12 students will return to their state school or community kindergarten, joining children of essential workers, vulnerable children and children in designated Indigenous communities.

At this stage, the Qld Government is stating that students in Years 2–10 will continue to learn at home with the existing protocols in place that is - all students in Years 2–10 who are able to be supervised at home and learn from home are to stay home, except for vulnerable students and children of essential workers.

It was also announced that if low COVID-19 transmission rates continue, students in Years 2–10 will likely return to school from Monday 25 May 2020. Confirmation of this further step will be made by 15 May 2020 by the Qld Government.

What this means for BSC and ASC at Wilston Kids Care

We will be able to take those Prep and Grade 1 children attending school from Monday 11 May 2020 as well as continuing to take children of essential workers and vulnerable children.

The Priority works like this:

  • Children of essential workers on days when they are not able to be supervised at home and no other arrangements can be made. Essential worker means any worker who must continue to attend their workplace for essential business during this time.

  • Vulnerable children include children identified by schools or children who:

  • are currently receiving services from Child Safety, including children who are subject to a child protection order

  • is subject to a youth justice order

  • children in designated Indigenous communities

  • Children in designated Indigenous communities

  • Prep and Year 1 children- From Monday 11 2020 onwards

How to make a Booking

All you must do to book in (casually) is follow the below steps. All normal term time bookings have been “hibernated” and will only be used again when all children are back at school once COVID-19 restrictions are over.

For now, you must book casually using the following process:

  • In order for us to properly plan, if you require care, you will need to book via the My Family Lounge App by clicking on the Covid-19 Before School Care roll and/or Covid-19 After School Care roll (not the normal Before and After School Care rolls as these will be closed) depending on your needs. We have opened the My Family Lounge app for the first five weeks of Before and After School Care so you can make a booking over this entire 5-week period for your child if needed. We will open further weeks once the Qld Government makes further announcements.

  • Please remember for any of these bookings you make we are now able to waive out of pocket fees for families as our service remains open. This means you will not pay anything for your child’s attendance until the end of the financial year.

  • If you book during this time and do not attend it will be regarded under the Government system as an absence and be marked as such on our QikKids system. You will not be charged for this day however this absence will go towards your 62 allowable absences for your child per financial year.

Any questions about Before and After School Care for Term 2 2020 please do not hesitate to contact our Administrators Dani and Michaela for any assistance.

Kind regards
