Delayed Fee Increase 2020

Dear Families,

The Australian Government has recently announced its extension of the Early Childhood Education and Care Relief Package (free childcare) and the plan to return to Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS) payments on 13 July 2020.

The Relief Package (free childcare) will be extended until 12 July 2020, in line with the start of the 2020/21 CCS financial year. From 13 July 2020, CCS and ACCS will re-commence.

As a supportive gesture, the P&C, as the Approved Providers, and Wilston Kids Care have decided to delay our fee increase, previously implemented on 1 April 2020. This fee increase commenced for 3 days only, when COVID struck and the Government made the decision to turn Child Care Subsidy (CCS) off and offer free childcare to all families in Childcare and Outside School Hours Care Services across Australia.

We understand since the COVID pandemic started; many families have been affected by the downturn in the economy. The P&C and we at Wilston Kids Care, are very conscious of supporting our families with rising costs associated with household budgets. Therefore, as a general rule, we only review our fees on a biennial basis, absorbing some of the increased costs and CPI over this 24-month period. We are one of the very few Services that continue to review fees on this basis.

Whilst we actually have not had an increase to our fee structure since July 2018, the P&C Executive, have made the decision to delay the fee increase referred to above to now commence on 28 September 2020, giving families some extra relief for a further few months.

Additionally, the Government will also ease the activity test until 4 October to support eligible families whose employment has been impacted as a result of COVID-19. These families will receive up to 100 hours per fortnight of subsidised care during this period. This will assist families to return to the level of work, study or training they were undertaking before COVID-19.

Wilston Kids Care is here to support our families as we transition back to the original Child Care Subsidy (CCS) system by charging our previous fee schedule.

We will continue to bring you any updated information from the Government if there are any further developments. We hope that this decision helps our Wilston Kids Care community get back on their feet and move through these challenging times. We are here if you need any assistance with any queries, questions, or advice.

Kind Regards

Raeleen Wren General Manager and Nominated Supervisor Wilston Kids Care (Wilston State School P&C Association)
