Important announcement about COVID-19 and business as usual for Wilston Kids Care

Dear Families, A number of you have no doubt heard the announcement this morning made by the Premier. We set out below the latest information released as of 9.00am Monday 11 January 2021. BREAKING: The lockdown ends at 6pm tonight, but some precautions will remain in Greater Brisbane for 10 days until 1am on Friday, 22 January.

  • You must carry a mask at all times.

  • Masks must be worn in indoor places including shopping centres and supermarkets, gyms, places of worship, libraries, public transport, and taxis and rideshare vehicles.

  • Masks must be worn in workplaces if social distancing isn’t possible and it’s safe to do so.

  • You don’t need to wear a mask in private vehicles, while outdoors at a safe distance from other people or if you’re doing strenuous exercise.

  • Businesses and venues can have one person per 4m² indoors and one person per 2m² outdoors.

  • Smaller venues up to 200m² can have one person per 2m² up to a maximum of 50.

  • You must be seated to eat and drink, and no dancing is allowed except at weddings.

  • Gatherings are restricted to 20 people in homes and public spaces.

  • Weddings and funerals can have up to 100 people, and dancing is allowed at weddings without restrictions.

  • Indoor concert venues and theatres can operate at 50% capacity or one person per four square metres, whichever is greater.

  • Outdoor stadiums can operate at 50% capacity with COVID-safe plans.

  • Restrictions on visits to hospitals, aged care, disability accommodation and prisons will remain.

This means we are business as usual based on the current restrictions above and will operate normally as we have been prior to the 3-day lockdown. We are lucky to have the whole school grounds to ourselves and will continue to spread out across the campus both indoors and outdoors, maintain social distancing and will continue our strict hand hygiene practices. Moving forward, the decisions we make are based on the Premier’s advice as well as the relevant government departments. Therefore, we are back to normal operational circumstances. This means that any cancellations for the remainder of the school holidays will be in accordance with our normal 7-day notice period rule. This will mean that any cancellations within our 7-day notice period, will result in our normal charging practices. As a small business always here serving our community on the frontline, we must continue like any small business to cover our operational costs. We know families will be understanding of our position with regards to this decision. Please note that no exceptions to this rule can be accepted.

Please also note if you book a Vacation Care day and your child is sick within the 7-day notice period, please understand this will be charged at the normal rate and in accordance with our policy. Disagreeing or opposing our admin staff will not be accepted. Families are all aware of this rule which has been in place for several years. Families understand this booking requirement and accept this rule when choosing to proceed with their booking at our Service and as a result, we ask that you respect our staff. This means that confronting our admin staff around this policy issue is not acceptable - as with the booking rule, no exceptions can be made to this requirement. If you would like to raise any issue around this policy and your circumstances, this should be done by either contacting me as General Manager or Ian Dorey as President of the Wilston State School P&C (email - President@wilstonpandc.org.au).

At this stage we will proceed with our movie excursion on Friday 15 January 2021 as we have the cinema to ourselves and the children and staff can spread out. All staff will be wearing masks on the excursion as per the current requirements set by the QLD Government. In line with this, children will be exempt from wearing masks, if they are 12 years or younger.

Any questions about this advice please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss further.

Kind Regards

Raeleen Wren General Manager and Nominated Supervisor Wilston Kids Care (Wilston State School P&C Association) Phone: 33526753 Mobile: 0432 283 325 Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/wilstonkidscare Email: wkc.generalmanager@wilstonpandc.org.au Website: http://www.wilstonpandc.org.au/ Wilston Kids Care acknowledges the traditional owners of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land and community.
