Swim Club News

The Wilston Crocs are hosting the Election Day BBQ and Cake Stall on Saturday 16th May.

If you would like to volunteer an hour or

two of your time to flip a sausage or bake some yummy treats, a sign-up genius will be available shortly. All profits go directly to the Wilston Crocs Swim Club.

Learn to Swim and Squad

Learn to Swim and Squads are available year-round with the pool heated to 28 degrees.

We currently have availability most days in our Term 2 Learn to Swim program with lessons running Monday to Thursday afternoons as well as Saturday mornings.

Please see our website for the complete squad timetable. https://www.wilstonpandc.org.au/swim-club

We also have an adult Squad which runs Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings from 6:00- 7:00am.

Wednesday afternoons, from 5:30 – 6:30pm, the Crocs offer a fitness squad. This squad is available to high school students and is ideal fitness for your teenager, whether they play water polo, surf, participate in surf lifesaving, cross training for alternate sports or even if you just want them off their phones for an hour!! The cost is $12.50 a swim, or you can purchase a 10 pass for $100.

Swimming year round has many benefits, and we encourage our squad and learn to swim kids to maintain their skills and swim over the winter months.

Please email swim@wilstonpandc.org.au for bookings.

Upcoming Swim Meets

  • The Crocs will be attending the following meets in Term 2.

  • Australian Crawl Short Course Transition Meet – 17th May

  • MCA Short Course Preparation Meet – 6th June

  • Somerville House Short Course Preparation Meet – 20th June

The Brisbane and Queensland Short Course Championships will bring the winter season to an end in early August. Qualifying times for these two championship meets can be achieved at any of the above meets.

These meets are open to swimmers registered with Swimming Qld as a Junior or Competitive Swimmer. Please note, the minimum age for swimmers attending a preparation meet is 8 years. Transition meets cater for swimmers from 5/6 years.

What do the difference between a transition, preparation, short course and long course meet you ask? A Short Course Meet is held in a 25m pool. A long course meet is held in a 50m pool.

The main aim of a Transition Meet is to give swimmers the opportunity to compete and gain racing experience in a wide range of strokes and events. Swimmers can also gain qualifying times for regional and state events.

A Preparation Meet is the next step on the pathway from a Transition Meet. Some Preparation Meets may have qualifying times and Rule Tolerances are not applied at these meets. These meets may run over one or two days and follow a recommended events program prepared by Swimming Queensland.

Times achieved at Preparation Meets can be used for all other meets, including Regional, State and National Championships. All meet entry is through Swim Central, with relevant nomination closing dates for each meet.

If you are not sure which meet is for your child, or if you are unsure of what events to enter, please have a chat with Coach Mark.

See you at the pool!
